OPPO Watch Series: Add More Power to Your Style with a Perfect Blend of Premium Design and Innovative Tech

After being at the helm of advanced tech innovation in the smartphone segment, the global smart device brand OPPO has now taken a big leap into the world of smart wearables. Yes, we are talking about the latest OPPO Watch Series, a truly unique and innovative offering that marks the company’s first steps towards eventually dominating the smart tech wearable space.

This is OPPO’s first smartwatch series, and by the looks of what they have on offer, it is definitely not going to be the last. The Watch series comes in two variants 46mm an 41mm and offers the ultimate blend of OPPO’s brilliant IoT ecosystem and a never-ending passion for pushing the boundaries of innovation. With this launch, OPPO now has a complete smart device ecosystem for its users, with a phone, wireless headphones, and now, a smartwatch, too.

In this article, we will take a look at the flagship 46mm model. Let’s deep dive into why the OPPO Watch is simply irresistible.

An unmatchable legacy of firsts

Innovation and OPPO go hand-in-hand, and it has proved that yet again in the series’ OPPO Watch 46mm, which is the first smartwatch ever to use an industry’s first AMOLED dual-curved display, usually reserved for premium flagship smartphones, and it looks absolutely gorgeous! The 46mm version of the OPPO Watch comes with a 1.91-inch AMOLED and that’s not all. This smartwatch also boasts a massive 72.76% screen-to-body ratio, which means that you can now watch larger-than-life visuals come alive on your wrist. And if you were worried about squinting to see visuals in broad daylight, OPPO’s got you covered. With screen brightness reaching up to 500 nits, and extendable to 1000 nits, you have absolutely no reason to worry about clarity.

Charging woes, no more

When it comes to OPPO, another innovation that is unique to this brand is in the field of fast charging. Time and again, OPPO has enthralled users with its prowess in that area, and the OPPO Watch is no different. The all-new Watch VOOC flash charging helps extend battery life for longer use, through its Smart Mode and Power Saver Mode. Thanks to the dual-chip strategy and power-efficient components, the OPPO Watch is capable of offering up to 36 hours of full-fledged usage and up to a jaw-dropping 21 days of battery backup on Power Saver mode on a single charge. However, if you do end up using the smartwatch a tad bit too much (and we don’t blame you for it), the Watch VOOC Flash Charging will juice it up in a super-fast and safe way in just 75 minutes. The OPPO Watch definitely reflects the brand’s technical capabilities in the quick charging department.

A top-to-bottom head-turner

Quality is paramount to OPPO. And while most other smartwatches in the price range offer plastic bodies, the OPPO Watch is made out of metal. Not just any metal, but one of the best in the market, the 6-series aluminum. The premium metal body of the OPPO Watch offers a sturdy and premium feel on the wrist. The top-tier metal body isn’t the only design highlight of the OPPO Watch. The sleek body of the OPPO Watch is sure to impress and make a stylish statement. Planning to wear a black dress and want a matching watch strap? OPPO’s got you covered. You can easily remove your watch strap with the press of a button, thanks to OPPO’s unique modular strap design, and interchangeable straps are available in a bunch of colours and materials. And how can we miss the biggest highlight of the smartwatch – an instant makeover with OPPO’s HeyTap Health app, which basically photographs your outfit, and then uses AI imaging to generate a matching watch face. How cool is that!

The OPPO Watch also has 5ATM water resistance so that you fearlessly jump into water or enjoy pool parties without worrying about damaging your smartwatch. Be its physical design or watch faces, the OPPO Watch exudes style and fashion statement everywhere you go.

Backed by the best

Every smartwatch that we’ve seen until today comes with a single processor. Not the OPPO Watch. The newly launched premium smartwatch from OPPO comes with two processors. That’s right. The OPPO Watch has a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC and an ultra-power-efficient Ambiq Apollo3 SoC. The Qualcomm chipset gives all the horsepower the smartwatch needs to carry out day to day tasks smoothly, whereas, the ultra-power-efficient Ambiq chipset comes into play when your watch is in the idle state to check notifications and perform basic tasks while saving power. This strategy of using two chipsets gives the OPPO Watch a silky-smooth performance and also a great battery backup at the same time, solving the issues that other smartwatches suffer from.

The OPPO Watch is also powered with Wear OS by Google™, which adapts core Google Apps and services for the wrist, and combines it with OPPO’s super-strong aesthetic from the ColorOS for smartphones. This means that users will have access to hundreds of applications on Google Play™. Plus, there are so many other functions such as messaging, music streaming, on-the-go payment with NFC, which make life extremely convenient, considering how you don’t have to pull out your phone for every task. Bonus – The OPPO Watch also has the faithful Google Assistant, so all you have to do to reply to text messages is lift your wrist and command. It’s really that simple!

The best health partner

OPPO Watch takes health and fitness functions very seriously and comes with Google Fit™, offering multiple exercise modes, heart rate monitoring, and sleep management, for extremely professional and science-backed health and fitness experience. Its heart rate monitoring function will keep an eye on your heartbeat – whether during exercise or at rest – giving you a very accurate representation of your heart health. If you constantly wake up feeling groggy or sleepy, OPPO ensures that the Watch helps you monitor your sleeping pattern, and gives you a detailed insight into what is missing. And for the lazy bums out there, the OPPO Watch serves a healthy dose of get-up reminders to keep you on your toes.

The best Wear OS smartwatch you can buy right now

There have been Wear OS-based smartwatches in the market for years but the OPPO Watch is the first in the industry that combines high-quality craftsmanship, luxurious design, powerful specs, a seamless display, and fast charging technology in one package. What makes it even compelling is that it comes with an attractive price tag, making it the best Wear OS-based smartwatch in the Indian market right now.

No other smartwatch in the market offers the feature-set, quality, design, and value for money factor that the OPPO Watch offers, making it the top choice if you are in the market looking to buy a new smartwatch. OPPO Watch Series comes with 2 variants: a 46mm variant that will cost you Rs. 19,990 available in Black and Glossy Gold colours while the 41mm variant is priced at Rs. 14,990 available in Black, Pink Gold, and Silver Mist colours.  Both the versions are currently available for pre-order on Amazon India and will go on sale from the 10th of August 2020. With the overwhelming demand and excitement for the OPPO Watch, it will undoubtedly go out of stock on its release. So, hurry up and grab one for yourself while you still can.

OnePlus Smartphones Get Exclusive Access to Play PUBG Mobile at 90fps, Check if Your Phone is in the List

Lately, the OnePlus smartphones have been receiving plenty of exclusive perks. Not too long ago, the brand collaborated with Fortnite and brought about 90fps support for the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones. Now, the company has taken another leap in terms of exclusivity and has partnered with PUBG to bring about 90fps gameplay to several of its smartphones, including the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro, and the OnePlus 7 Pro. Take a look at the newest development that has taken place in the OnePlus camp.

OnePlus devices to get exclusive PUBG Mobile 90fps support

OnePlus recently broke the news surrounding the limited-period PUBG Mobile 90fps support for some of its newly launched devices, which we have mentioned above. One should know that PUBG Mobile has so far limited its gameplay to 60fps across all devices. The 90fps gameplay will be exclusive to the OnePlus devices starting from August 6, 2020 to September 6, 2020. As far as the availability is concerned, the 90fps feature on OnePlus users will be available worldwide, minus Mainland China, Korea, and Japan.

For now, we are not sure as to what effect the 90fps mode will have on the PUBG Mobile game. For instance, the Fortnite 90fps gameplay had a limitation – the display quality decreased to low when in 90fps mode and graphics used to render only when approached within set proximity. We can hope that PUBG Mobile 90fps mode for the OnePlus device would not have such limitations, but we cannot be sure of that for now. Nevertheless, we will keep you posted on the same in the coming days. What are your thoughts on the 90fps PUBG Mobile gameplay feature that is exclusive to select OnePlus devices for now? Has your OnePlus phone made it to the list? Do let us know in the comments section below.

Mixcder E10 Noise Cancelling Headphones Review: Excellently Specced ANC Headphones On A Budget

There are a lot of wireless headphones in the market, and the number of new headphones launching every year has dramatically increased ever since smartphone brands stopped offering 3.5mm headphone jacks on their high-end devices. No wonder, more people are forced to buy wireless earphones.

If you’re looking to get yourself well-specced over-the-ear Bluetooth earphones without spending a bomb, you should look for these features: comfortable design with support for fold and swivel, preferably a Bluetooth 5.0 chip, support for high-resolution Bluetooth codecs (AAC and aptX), long battery life (at least 15 hours), USB Type-C port, fast charging, and a bundled carrying case. There are extremely rare cases of such headphones existing in the sub-$100 price segment.

Mixcder E10 offers almost all these features with an extremely competitive price tag of just $89.99. It misses out on a USB Type-C port but makes up for it with ANC (active noise cancellation). Very few headphones offer as many features as the Mixcder E10 in the same price segment. We had these for a few months now, and here’s what we think about it.

Features, Specs

The Mixcder E10 is the company’s highest-end headphones, but they are still priced really well. At $89.99 you get a lot of features and up-to-date specs. These headphones use a Bluetooth 5.0 chip from Qualcomm, which brings not only a longer range and more stable connection but also higher-resolution Bluetooth audio codecs: AAC, aptX, and more importantly, aptX LL (Low Latency). AAC is helpful if you have an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. If you have an Android phone or a Windows 10 PC, you would be able to use aptX. If you watch a lot of videos on your phone, aptX LL is of great help as it brings down the latency to as low as 40ms so that you don’t notice the delay between audio and video. Very few headphones in this price range offer aptX LL.

These headphones also promise comfortable wear with plush memory foam earbuds and soft cushioning on the headband. They also offer rotatable ear cups and a foldable design. This means that you can carry them around in more compact places such as bags. Mixcder is also offering a hard carry case and an airplane adapter if you are someone who flies a lot and enjoys music and videos through in-flight entertainment systems. The Bluetooth pairing process is extremely simple (though not as simple as AirPods with iPhones). Press and hold the power button until the LED flashes in red and blue colors, and then you can find Mixcder E10 in your device’s (smartphone, tablet, PC, or anything else) Bluetooth devices list. Just tap on the name of the headphones, and you’re good to go.

Design

These earphones are super comfortable. The memory foam pads on the earcups are extremely soft and plushy, so you can keep wearing them for hours without feeling pressure against your ears. The headband is covered with cushioning, too, so that the headphones feel comfortable on your head. The clamping pressure was just right. These headphones look and feel more premium than the price tag suggests. Moreover, since the earcups can rotate and swivel, they take up less space in your bag.

The only thing that pissed me off in terms of design was the position of the buttons. The placement is extremely unintuitive, and even after using them for weeks, I had to search for those buttons whenever I wanted to control music or turn ANC on/off. And the buttons feel tacky. This is one area where Mixcder might want to improve with its next-gen headphones.

Audio Quality & Active Noise Cancellation

I listen to a lot of pop and Bollywood music, but there’s a good amount of classical, electronica, and hip-hop music in my library. Most of the testing was done with the headphones connected to my Realme X2 Pro and the aptX codec enabled. I used Apple Music and Spotify most of the time to listen to 320kbps audio files. Since these headphones also have a 3.5mm port, you can listen to them in wired mode when they run out of battery charge.

The headphones sounded slightly warm. There was a hint of accentuated bass but it was nothing close to being uncomfortable. It was composed and not boomy, unlike most headphones in its price range. Vocals sounded clear and instrument separation is decent. Highs are just okay, though. Instead of sounding crisp, highs sound smooth and laidback, and if you’re someone who likes smooth audio, you might like the Mixcder E10. Audio sounded full-bodied, too, at least for the price of the headphones.

The soundstage was quite average, and it wasn’t anywhere close to pricey rivals like the Bose QC 35 or Sony WH-1000XM3 that I had tested earlier. These headphones might not sound audiophile-grade accurate, but most people buying these might not be looking for a flat sound signature. And the Mixcder E10 delivers just what they might be looking for: enjoyable audio with slightly emphasized bass and clear vocals. Moreover, if you watch a lot of videos, the aptX LL will come in really handy as it reduces latency by a huge margin, at least on Android devices that support aptX LL codec.

Thanks to the snuggly-fitting earcups, most of the outside noise is isolated even without ANC turned on. When you’re indoors or in non-noisy environments, setting the volume to mid-level will drown out all outside noise. When you’re in noisy environments like a busy street, a train, or a flight, you can turn on ANC through the dedicated button. With ANC turned on, outside noise like people talking or an engine’s noise gets drowned out. However, sounds like a sudden clap or drop might be able to get through Mixcder E10’s noise cancellation system.

In the ANC mode, sound profile changes, though. The headphones sound overly warm and the bass goes all boomy. This is where pricier ANC headphones like the Jabra 85H and Sony WH-1000XM3 shine. The audio quality of those headphones doesn’t change as much when ANC is activated. You also start to feel a bit of pressure with the Mixcder E10 in the ANC mode. One more aspect of these headphones that bothered me was that there’s no audio feedback to relay when ANC mode is turned on or off. You’ll have to rely on the LED light to check if the ANC mode is activated or not. But who wants to remove headphones to check if ANC is active or inactive

Battery Life

Mixcder promises a 30-hour battery life from the E10 with a single charge. There are headphones that offer even longer battery life, but those are usually priced much higher. I was able to listen to music hours on a stretch (usually 5-6 hours) while working, then keep them aside, and then continue listening to music the next day. And I was able to do that for 2-3 days on a single charge. I think that’s good enough for most users.

The headphones take around a couple of hours to charge fully. I expected them to have a USB Type-C port since the headphones are so up-to-date on specs in other areas. However, it comes with the dated microUSB port, but a company representative told me that they are also working on a newer version with a Type-C port. The headphones also support some form of fast charging which the company calls MSC (Mixcder Super Charging).

Conclusion

The Mixcder E10 offers great value for money. At just $89.99, you get Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity with high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs for a cleaner sound. They look and feel much more pricey than they really are, and you can wear them for hours on a stretch. They sound good too, at least with the ANC mode turned off. Mixcder’s noise cancellation works well, but there’s room for improvement.

I might be nitpicking comparing the ANC quality of the Mixcder E10 with the likes of the Jabra 85H or the Sony WH-1000XM3, but hey, someone needs to point out what you’ll gain by spending more on premium ANC headphones, right? But kudos to Mixcder for offering so many features and decent audio quality in the sub-$100 price segment. Now, if they could only improve the button layout and offer a USB Type-C port in the next version, they would become even more recommendation worthy.
