Samsung Galaxy M51 Moniker Confirmed By Bluetooth SIG Certification

Samsung’s upcoming M series smartphone, the Galaxy M51, has been in the news since January. The early reports regarding the Galaxy M51 claimed that the device could launch in India around January or February. Although, the launch of the device has now been delayed to September due to production issues, as we have reported in our exclusive report.

So far, the Galaxy M51 has been leaked through CAD renders and also through its listing on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. However, none of these leaks had confirmed the name of the device. Well, we have now come across a Bluetooth SIG certification of the Galaxy M51, which confirms the name of the device.

Samsung Galaxy M51 gets Bluetooth SIG certification

Samsung Galaxy M51 Bluetooth SIG

Up until now, the SM-M515F was believed to be the model number of the Galaxy M51 and it turns out to be true. The Bluetooth SIG certification that we are talking about is for a Samsung smartphone with model number SM-515F and the certification clearly mentions that the retail name of the device is Galaxy M51, confirming the moniker. The Bluetooth SIG certification of the Galaxy M51 reveals that the device has Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity. And that is about it. It doesn’t reveal any other information.

That being said, the Geekbench listing of the device confirms that it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC, an 8GB RAM option, and the Android 10 OS. As for the rest of the specs, the earlier leaks of the Galaxy M51 suggest that the device will have a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole, and quad-camera setup with 64MP primary camera at the rear.

Vivo X50, X50 Pro and Vivo TWS Neo Launched in India, Sale Begins on July 24 on Amazon and Flipkart

Vivo, on July 16, 2020, announced the launch of three new products for the Indian market – the Vivo X50 series smartphones and the new Vivo TWS earphones. The two new X series handsets – the Vivo X50 and the X50 Pro –  are the first X-series devices from Vivo to come to India in nearly two years. Let’s take a closer look at the key specifications, features, and highlights of these new products, shall we?

We start things off by talking about the two new smartphones. If you recall, the last X series handset to come to India was the Vivo X21 way back in May 2018. This handset was a mid-range device that was quite remarkable in that it was famous for being the first smartphone to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. The new X50 series phones continue to remain mid-range devices and also come with an in-display fingerprint scanner, which isn’t really a stand-out feature anymore.

Both the handsets feature mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series processors and have near-identical battery capacities (4200mAh on the X50 and 4315mAh on the X50 Pro). Both the handsets support 33W fast charging as well.

Vivo X50, Vivo X50 Pro Specifications: What are the differences?

Let’s address the most important question first. What are the key differences between the standard X50 and the X50 Pro? Here’s a ready reckoner.

Display

  • Vivo X50 Pro: 6.56 inch 3D curved Super AMOLED display, 1080*2376 pixels, HDR10+
  • Vivo X50: 6.56-inch flat Super AMOLED display, 1080*2376 pixels, HDR10+

Processor and variants

  • Vivo X50 Pro: Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, 8GB+256GB
  • Vivo X50: Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB

Cameras

  • Vivo X50 Pro Rear Cameras: 48MP primary ‘Gimbal’ camera (f/1.6) +13MP portrait (f/2.46) + 8MP ultrawide (f/2.2) + 8MP telephoto (f/3.4)
  • Vivo X50 Rear Cameras: 48MP primary (f/1.6) with OIS + 13MP portrait (f/2.46) + 8MP ultrawide (f/2.2) + 5MP Super Macro (f/2.48)
  • Vivo X50 Pro Front Camera: 32MP f/2.45 – punch hole
  • Vivo X50 Front Camera: 32MO f/2.45 – punch hole

That pretty much sums up the differences between these two handsets. As you might have observed, the Vivo X50 Pro does have a few aces up its sleeve to command a significant premium over the standard X50 variant. The highlight feature of the X50 Pro is the primary 48MP camera with enhanced stabilization features.

That brings us to the pricing of the devices.

Vivo X50, Vivo X50 Pro price in India

The pricing of the two variants of the Vivo X50 are as under

Samsung Galaxy M01s Budget Smartphone Launched in India for Under Rs 10,000: Specifications, Availability

The sub-Rs 10,000 price bracket has seen a lot of action in the past few months, with several phone makers announcing new devices in this segment. The most recent entry was the Realme C11, which was announced earlier this week for a price tag of Rs 7,499. On Thursday, Samsung silently launched its new entry-level, sub Rs 10,000 smartphone called the Samsung Galaxy M01s in India. At first glance, the Galaxy M01s – clearly – seems to be an updated variant of the Galaxy M01. Things, however, aren’t as straightforward as you might have thought. While the M01s shares a lot of traits and features from the M01, it also has a few omissions that compel us to think if it’s really an ‘upgrade.’ In Samsung’s defense, though, they haven’t claimed that the M01 is an upgrade to the M01 – but that isn’t that what you’d think looking at the addition of the ‘s’ to the model number.

Let’s take a closer look at the specifications, pricing, and other aspects of the new Galaxy M01s.

Samsung Galaxy M01s: Price in India, availability

The Samsung Galaxy M01s comes in a single variant in India at launch that gets 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The price of this variant has been pegged at Rs 9,999. This makes it just Rs 1000 more expensive when compared to the Galaxy M01. The phone is available via Samsung dealers and leading e-commerce platforms. You have the option to buy the Galaxy M01s in two color options; Gray and Light Blue.

Galaxy M01 Color Options

Samsung Galaxy M01s: Specifications, features

The first thing I noticed when I glanced at the spec sheet of the Galaxy M01 was the display size. The M01 was a relatively tiny phone by today’s standards with its 5.7-inch display. The M01 gets an upgrade in this department and now boasts of a larger 6.2-inch PLS TFT panel with HD+ resolution (720 x 1520 pixels). Note that only the screen size has changed here. The rest of the display specifications remain the same.

The Samsung Galaxy M01s comes powered by the Mediatek Helio P22 chipset (MT6762). This is a relatively old chipset (dating back to 2018) but is quite similar to the Snapdragon 439 chipset that the older M01 used. There should not be any noticeable performance difference between the two. The Galaxy M01s comes in a single variant that gets 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone is dual SIM ready and has a dedicated microSD card slot as well.

Moving on to the camera, the Galaxy M01s retains the dual-camera setup that we saw on the M01- albeit with slight changes. The primary 13MP rear camera now has a wider f/1.8 aperture lens as compared to the f/2.2 lens on the M01. The secondary 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture remains unchanged. One minor change I noticed was that the digital zoom range on the M01s is lower (4x) when compared to the M01 (8x). But digital zoom is something we always recommend staying away from. The M01s gets an upgrade as far as the front camera is concerned and uses an 8MP, f/2.0 setup here as opposed to the 5MP, f/2.2 setup that we saw on the M01. We can, therefore, conclude that the M01’s camera hardware is objectively better than that on the M01.

One major feature addition to the Galaxy M01s is the availability of a fingerprint scanner. The M01 – in case you weren’t aware – did not come with this option. This is a welcome upgrade.

Samsung Galaxy M01s Software, other features

In a rather strange decision, Samsung has decided to ship the Galaxy M01s with Android 9. You do get Samsung’s OneUI running on top – but this decision has left me perplexed – especially considering that the M01 came preinstalled with Android 10. I am hopeful, though, that the M01s would get an official update to Android 10. There are some other software additions on the M01s, though, including support for Dolby Atmos and the Samsung Health app. Like the M01, the Galaxy M01s gets a 4000mAh battery with no support for fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G (SM-N981B) Passes Through FCC Ahead of Galaxy UNPACKED 2020 Event

The Galaxy Note 20 series smartphones are set to make their debut at the Galaxy UNPACKED event on the 5th of August. This upcoming flagship series is expected to have three variants, the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Plus, and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Two of these three upcoming smartphones – the Note 20 Plus and the Note 20 Ultra – have been spotted on the FCC certification platform so far. Today, the Galaxy Note 20 has also been certified through FCC. Let us have a look at what the FCC certification of the Galaxy Note 20 reveals about the device.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 gets FCC certification

From the previous leaks, we know that one of the model numbers of the Galaxy Note 20 is SM-981B and this is the very model that has been certified through FCC today.

There was a lot of confusion up until now whether the Galaxy Note 20 has 5G connectivity or not. One of the FCC certification documents of the device clears the air. According to it, the Galaxy Note 20 indeed has 5G cellular support, at least this version does. It is possible that Samsung might launch a 4G version too but we don’t have any info about that yet.

Other connectivity options of the Galaxy Note 20, according to various FCC certification documents of the device, include Bluetooth v5.0 LE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ax, GNSS (GPS), NFC, MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission for payment). These documents also show that the phone comes with EB-BN-980ABY Li-ion battery, EP-TA800 power adapter (18W), EP-DG980BBE data cable, and EJ-PN980 S-Pen.

Furthermore, the FCC certification documents show that the Galaxy Note 20 measures 161 x 75.2mm (thickness isn’t mentioned in these documents), and that the phone has wireless charging, 9W reverse wireless charging, and its S-Pen will charge wirelessly inside the phone.

That is all the information we could gather from the FCC certification documents of the Galaxy Note 20. Hopefully, we will know more as the launch nears.
