If you happen to be an Airtel prepaid subscriber who was enjoying free access to ZEE5 thanks to Airtel’s complimentary subscription for the same, here’s some bad news for you. Airtel has revoked subscription to ZEE5 on the majority of its prepaid plans effective immediately. According to Telecom Talk, while you will continue to avail the benefits of your ZEE5 subscription until the current validity period ends, you won’t receive the same benefits once you recharge with the same plan. As of today, the only way to avail a free subscription to ZEE5 with Airtel prepaid is to recharge with the recently introduced Rs 289 recharge pack.
The Rs 289 pack offers a validity of 28 days with the ability to make unlimited calls to all networks across India. Subscribers can also enjoy 1.5GB of data per day during the entire validity period. Other benefits you get with this pack include a free subscription to Airtel Xstream Premium, free Hellotunes, free subscription to Wynk Music, a free course from shaw academy, and a cashback offer of Rs 150 on FASTag. Lastly, we come to the ZEE5 subscription, which now has a validity period of just 28 days. This effectively means that the ZEE5 subscription will be valid only for the validity period of the plan. This was not the case earlier, with Airtel offering three months of validity with other plans.
Airtel has also revoked the ZEE5 subscription as an Airtel Thanks Benefits for its Gold members. This means people who were subscribed to Airtel’s Rs 799 Xstream Fiber plan will no longer receive the ZEE5 benefit. The company, however, continues to retain the ZEE5 subscriptions to people to Airtel Platinum members.
Airtel has not revealed a reason behind the removal of the ZEE5 subscription from the majority of its plans. Chances are high, however, that this removal is due to the end of the current arrangement between Airtel and Zee Entertainment Enterprises.
