Samsung’s Affordable Fitness Band (SM-R220) Gets Bluetooth SIG Certification

Samsung is reportedly working on launching a new affordable fitness band soon. While we are not sure as to what the name of the upcoming fitness band by Samsung will be, we have spotted it on the Bluetooth SIG certification website today, which hints at an imminent launch. The brand is gearing up for the launch of its Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series of smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 series of tablets, and its Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 foldable smartphone, and it could very well launch its brand new fitness band alongside the same. Take a look at the Bluetooth SIG certification for the Samsung fitness band and find out what it has in store for us.

Samsung could soon launch an affordable fitness band; passes Bluetooth SIG

Samsung SM-R220 Bluetooth SIG

As seen in the Bluetooth SIG certification image, the Samsung fitness band (with the model number Samsung SM-R220) is mentioned as a Wearable device with Bluetooth 5.1. The certification does not explicitly mention the name of the device, but a previous report spotted the same model number on the FCC certification website and found it to be a fitness tracker. The FCC certification suggests that the upcoming Samsung wearable device could pack a heart rate sensor. Plus, the fitness tracker has also been spotted on the Korean NRRA certification website by 91mobiles.

For now, this is pretty much all that we know about the upcoming Samsung fitness band, but we can expect it to pop up on more certification websites ahead of its launch and we will keep a close eye on that. Whenever it does, we will keep you posted on the same. What are your thoughts on the upcoming Samsung fitness band? Do let us know in the comments section below.

HTC Wildfire E2 Spotted in Google Play Console Listing, Comes with 4GB RAM, Helio P22 SoC

HTC is reportedly in the works to launch a new smartphone in the market, dubbed the HTC Wildfire E2. The HTC Wildfire E2 has today been spotted on the Google Play Console listing, which gives us its key specifications and features. The Google Play Console listing for the HTC Wildfire E2 also suggests that its launch date must not be too far from now. By the looks of it, the HTC Wildfire E2 appears to be an entry-level Android handset running on the latest Android 10 OS out of the box. Take a look at what the Google Play Console listing for the HTC Wildfire E2 smartphone has revealed about the device.

HTC Wildfire E2 key specifications revealed via Google Play Console listing

HTC Wildfire E2 Google Play Console

As seen in the Google Play Console listing screenshot above, the HTC Wildfire E2 will feature 4GB of RAM. Under the hood, the HTC Wildfire E2 will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor (4x ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1800MHz and 4x ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1500MHz).

The device’s display will come with a 720 x 1,520 pixels HD+ resolution and if the placeholder image is indeed the HTC Wildfire E2, we are going to see a waterdrop notch coming up with the device. One can clearly observe a thick chin at the bottom of the device. The volume up and down buttons and the power button are on the right side of the device, while the SIM tray is (presumably) on the left side. We can expect the HTC Wildfire E2 to feature a physical rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom, given its entry-level nature. Realme 6 6GB+64GB Variant Launched in India, Sale Begins Tonight on Flipkart: Price, Specifications

Nearly four months after Realme updated its budget smartphone lineup in India with the Realme 6 series, the company has announced the launch of a new variant of the Realme 6 in the country. If you recall, when Realme launched the Realme 6 here in India, it came in three variants; a base 4GB+64GB variant priced at Rs 14,999, a mid-tier 6GB+128GB variant priced at Rs 16,999 and a top-end 8GB+128GB variant priced at Rs 17,999. You can clearly see than there is a small gap in pricing between the base variant and the mid-tier variant. Realme filled that gap today with a new 6GB+64GB variant of the Realme 6 that will go on sale tonight with a price tag of Rs 15,999. This variant of the Realme 6 is identical in all other aspects to the standard Realme 6 and comes in the same two color options; Comet Blue and Comet White.

Realme 6

A budget device designed to compete against the likes of the Redmi Note Series from Xiaomi and the Moto G series from Motorola, the Realme 6 has its own set of fanboys. It is among the few devices in the sub-Rs 15,000 price bracket to feature a high refresh rate 90Hz display. The phone comes powered by the MediaTek Helio G90T processor, which is based in a 12nm manufacturing process and features twin ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked up to 2.05 GHz and six power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2 GHz. As outlined earlier, the phone now comes in four variants with the arrival of this 6GB+64GB option.

The IPS LCD panel used on the Realme 6 measures 6.5-inches across and has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The 90Hz panel also gets a ‘punch-hole’ for the 16MP front-facing camera and gets Gorilla Glass protection as well. The rear camera setup on the Realme 6 consists of a 64MP primary camera (Samsung GW1 sensor) with f/1.7 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 119-degree field of view, a third 2MP f/2.4 camera for black and white photos and another 2MP F/2.4 camera for macro shots. At the front, the phone uses a 16MP f/20 camera for selfies and video calling. The 4G VoLTE capable phone gets a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion and uses a 4300mAh battery. The phone also supports 30W fast charging with the supplied USB-C charger+cable combo. It runs the frequently updated Realme UI atop an Android 10 core.

The new 6GB+64GB variant of the Realme 6 will go on sale at midnight tonight (which is effectively July 17) and will be sold by Flipkart.

Lenovo Legion Gaming Smartphone Listed on JD.com Revealing Key Features Ahead of Official Launch

Lenovo is all set to launch its new gaming phone under the ‘Legion’ sub-brand on July 22. The handset – at least for the time being – is headed exclusively for the Chinese market and could see a global launch a few months down the line. Now, this is not the first time that we have talked about the Legion Gaming phone here on MySmartPrice, and there is a good chance that you might have read our previous news reports around the phone. In fact, we already know some of the key specifications of the device. The reason for today’s article? We have come across a listing on China’s popular e-commerce platform, JD.com, for the Lenovo Legion gaming phone, making it the first time that the handset has appeared outside of certification or benchmarking website. The listing itself, however, is unremarkable and does not reveal anything new about the phone. Take a look at some of the posters that have appeared on JD.com.

The posters reaffirm things we already know about the Lenovo Legion gaming phone – including the fact that it will come powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ 5G chipset- an overclocked version of the standard Snapdragon 865 chipset. We also know that the phone gets a 144Hz display. The poster also talks about support for 90W fast charging using USB -C. However, Lenovo has, in the past, known to add the battery charging speeds of wired and wireless methods to come up with ridiculous charging speed claims. At this time, we aren’t quite sure that’s the case this time around as well. We also know that the Lenovo Legion gaming phone will come in a variant that offers a colossal 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and offer up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. While we are not sure about the size of the display, there are indications that we are looking at an FHD+ panel here.

With ASUS also launching its ROG Phone 3 later this month, things look rather interesting as far as the gaming smartphone segment is concerned.

Realme C11 vs Redmi 8A Dual: Which is the Best Budget Smartphone Under Rs 8000 in India?

The entry-level segment for smartphones here in the Indian market continues to remain as competitive as ever in spite of the fact that the prices of smartphones have increased post April 2020. With the added effect of COVID-19 and the growing anti-China sentiment, there is no denying that the segment has seen a slowdown. That, however, hasn’t prevented companies from launching new devices, and brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, Realme, Motorola, and Samsung have all released several handsets in the past four to six months. The most recent launch from Realme came in the form of the new Realme C11, which is a basic, entry-level handset that is positioned below the Realme C3. At its sub Rs 8000 price tag, the Realme C11 finds itself competing against the Redmi 8A Dual from Xiaomi. And in this article, we compare both these handsets to figure which one to choose in case you were keen on buying a new device in this price segment.

Realme C11 vs Redmi 8A Dual: Price in India

As of now, the Realme C11 is sold in a single variant that gets 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. This variant has been priced at Rs 7,499.

The Redmi 8A Dual comes in three versions and their prices are as follows:

  • Redmi 8A Dual 2GB+32GB – Rs 7,499
  • Redmi 8A Dual 3GB+32GB – Rs 8,299
  • Redmi 8A Dual 3GB+64GB – Rs 8,499

Realme C11 vs Redmi 8A Dual: Specifications compared

Both these handsets being affordable entry phones, it is not surprising to see them feature entry-level hardware as well. While the Realme C11 comes powered by the ‘new’ Mediatek Helio G35 processor, the Redmi 8A gets by with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, both of which are fairly identical. Both these SoCs, for example, are based on a 12nm manufacturing process and house 8x Arm Cortex A-53 cores. The Mediatek SoC has a higher clock speed (2.3Ghz) as opposed to 2GHz on the SD439. In terms of graphics, too, the SD439 trails behind the Helio G35 with the former using the Adreno 505 GPU and the latter using the faster PowerVR GE8320 chip clocked at 680Mhz. While it is true that the Helio G35 is part of Mediatek’s gaming-centric G-Series chipsets, do not expect a significant change in the overall performance when compared to the older Mediatek chipsets like the P35 and the A22. That being said, if performance is a crucial concern, there is no denying that the Realme C11 fares slightly better than the Redmi 8A.

Both the handsets are evenly matched in terms of storage and RAM as far as the base version is concerned. Unlike the C11, which comes only in a single 2GB+32GB variant, there are three variants of the Redmi 8A Dual starting with the base 2GB+32GB option, a mid-tier 3GB+32GB version, and a 3GB+64GB variant. Both the phones feature large 5,000mah batteries that easily deliver day-long battery life even with heavy use. Only the Redmi 8A Dual, however, supports fast charging technology with USB Type-C. The Realme C11 gets still uses a standard micro USB port and does not support fast charging. Note that you will need to buy a separate charger for enabling 18W fast charging on the Redmi 8A Dual since Xiaomi does not ship a fast charger with the phone.

Realme C11 vs Redmi 8A Dual: Display, Camera specifications

In terms of overall size, the Realme C11 is the larger of the two phones thanks to its 6.5-inch LCD display. This panel has a small notch at the top for the front-facing camera and boasts of HD+ resolution (1600×720 pixels). The display on the Redmi 8A Dual is slightly smaller in size and measures 6.22-inches across and boasts of 720*1520 pixels resolution. While Realme does not reveal other key details about the display, Xiaomi confirms that the display on the Redmi 8A boasts of a contrast ratio of 1500:1. The notch above the display on the Redmi 8A Dual is similar to the one on the Realme C11. Another advantage with the display on the Redmi 8A Dual is that it gets Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Both these handsets get a near identical dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a primary 13MP f/2.2 camera and a secondary 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. At the front, the Realme C11 gets a 5MP f/2.4 selfie camera while the Redmi 8A Dual gets an 8MP camera with a wider f/2.0 aperture. On paper, this should translate to better low light imaging for the Redmi. That being said, the final image quality will be dependent on the software processing that images undergo. Both these handsets can capture FHD videos at a max frame rate of 30fps using the primary rear camera.

Realme C11 vs Redmi 8A Dual: Software, other features

Both the phones in this comparison run Android 10 – currently the newest stable version of Android. In the case of the Realme C11, this phone uses the updated Realme UI, which is a derivation of ColorOS 7 with subtle changes. Realme UI gets several feature additions, including a system-wide dark mode and several other privacy features. At the other end of the spectrum, the Redmi 8A Dual currently runs Android 9 Pie – albeit with MIUI 11. While choosing between custom skins is a matter of personal preference, there is no doubt that the Realme C11 is at an advantage here because it is on a newer Android version. I also prefer ColorOS to MIUI – but then that is a purely personal choice.

Note that both the handsets in this comparison lack a fingerprint scanner. The only ‘biometric’ option is the Face Unlock feature. As expected of devices in this class, the Realme C11 and the Redmi 8A Dual are both 4G VoLTE ready and happen to be dual SIM capable as well. Both the handsets get a triple slot that can take in two SIM cards and one microSD card at the same time.

As far as the overall design language is concerned, both the handsets look very good – but the Realme C11 does stand out with its new camera layout and the stripe with the vertical Realme branding. The Redmi 8A dual is not a bad looker by any means but there is no denying that it looks a bit dated in comparison.

Conclusion

From what we have read thus far, it is clear that the Realme C11 has a slight edge over the Redmi 8A Dual in both hardware and software aspects. The C11 has the better processor, runs a newer version of Android, but loses out on fast charging support. However, with both the devices sporting a large 5000mAh battery, these devices shall easily last you an entire day, and chances are high people will charge them overnight. Also, Redmi does not ship a fast charger in the box of the Redmi 8A Dual. Considering these facts, we think the Realme C11 is an overall better choice than the Redmi 8A Dual if you are a very tight sub Rs 7500 budget.
