Jio Phone 5G with Android OS, Cheaper Price Coming Soon: Mukesh Ambani

At their 43rd Annual General Meeting, Reliance Industries announced that Jio is working with Google to develop a brand new affordable 5G capable Android smartphone for Indian consumers. The move comes several years after the company launched its 4G capable JioPhones that reached more than 100 million consumers. However, with more than 300 million users in India still using feature phones, the number of people without access to 4G and 5G capable smartphones is almost the size of the entire population of the United States. Jio and Google, with this cheap smartphone, aims to bridge this gap and bring internet access to the last remaining people in the country without reliable internet connectivity.

While it is too early to talk about the handset and its specs, one thing that has been confirmed is the fact that this new device will be an affordable 5G capable device. Jio has not revealed any details about the launch timeline for this device. But chances are high that the phone will be designed, developed, and manufactured in India and should be launched sometime later this year or the latest by 2021. Another key takeaway from his speech was the emphasis on the word affordable He noted that this new smartphone would be available to consumers at a fraction of its current cost. It is highly likely that this new smartphone could be priced around the Rs 5000 mark or less when it is finally launched in the country. By the looks of it, this could spell trouble for players like Xiaomi and Realme, all of which have smartphones in that price range already.

The development of this affordable Android smartphone is part of Google’s recent investment in Jio Platforms. Apart from Google, Jio has also recently tied up with Facebook and Microsoft for various digital initiatives. The 43rd AGM is also where Jio officially announced that it had laid the groundwork for upgrading its existing 4G network to 5G with completely homegrown technology. Jio said it would begin field testing of 5G networks once the 5G spectrum allocation is completed next year.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (SM-N985F) Moniker Confirmed by Indonesia Telecom

Samsung has announced that it will be organizing the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5^th, 2020. The brand is set to launch the Galaxy Note 20 series at this event. The Galaxy Note 20 series is expected to have three smartphones, the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Plus, and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. All three smartphones have been leaked multiple times so far. However, there is some doubt regarding the existence of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Furthermore, there is a bit of confusion regarding the model numbers of various Galaxy Note 20 models (especially for the Ultra version). Well, we have now come across a certification of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra on Indonesian Telecom, which clears up a lot of details.

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (SM-985F) gets Indonesian Telecom certification

The Indonesian Telecom certification that we are talking about is for a Samsung smartphone with model number SM-N985F. Up until now, the SM-985F was speculated to be the Galaxy Note 20 Plus. Even in our report that was published earlier today, which was regarding the FCC certification of the Samsung SM-985F, we had said that the SM-985F is the Galaxy Note 20 Plus.

However, the Indonesian Telecom certification of the SM-985F that we have now come across, clearly mentions that the retail name of the device is Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, clearing the confusion regarding the model number and retail name once and for all. So, we now know that one of the model numbers of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is SM-985F and that the SM-985F is not the Galaxy Note 20 Plus.

According to the FCC certification of the SM-985F, that we had reported about earlier today, the device has LTE connectivity. So, what about the 5G version of the device? What is its model number? Well, a few days ago, we had come across a Bluetooth SIG certification of a Samsung smartphone with model number SM-986, which, we had also speculated to be the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Now, it highly likely that the SM-986 is the model number of the 5G variant of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Hopefully, we will know more about these devices as their launch nears. OnePlus Nord 5G Design Revealed Officially Ahead of July 21 Launch

OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of its OnePlus Nord 5G smartphone on July 21, 2020. So far, we have received a lot of intel surrounding the device’s key specifications and features, including its unofficial renders and a brief first look. Well, as it turns out, the brand does not want us to wait for too long and has now given us an official look at (at least) 2 color variants of its OnePlus Nord. The latest video from MKBHD shows two color variants of the OnePlus Nord that leave little room for guesswork. Take a look at the official look of the OnePlus Nord smartphone and find out what it has in store for us.

This is what the OnePlus Nord looks like

As seen in the image above, the OnePlus Nord will feature a vertically-aligned rear camera setup, which will consist of four cameras. Other than the camera module (which is accompanied by an LED flash), one can see a OnePlus logo in the middle and the OnePlus text at the bottom of the device. The image clearly showcases the bottom of the OnePlus Nord as well. There will be a USB Type-C charging port, which was, well, known already. Plus, the OnePlus Nord will make room for a speaker grille at the bottom. Even with a magnifying glass, we were not able to locate a 3.5mm headphone jack and there is a big possibility that the OnePlus Nord might ditch the jack.

Furthermore, the interview included Carl Pei teasing the upcoming OnePlus Buds TWS and a device, which is claimed to be an early prototype of the OnePlus Nord, as seen in the images below.

Carl further discussed the BOM (bill of materials) costs, which are involved in the production of the device. Notably, the presence of NFC adds just $4 to the BOM, while coming up with a device with an IP rating turns out to be a $15 bill.

OnePlus Nord will feature a 90Hz AMOLED panel. Under the hood, the OnePlus Nord will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor and will be a 5G device. Coming to the cameras of the device, the OnePlus Nord will flaunt a quadruple rear camera setup and a dual punch-hole selfie snapper, located in the top left corner of the device’s display. अमेरिका के बाद ब्रिटेन ने भी अपने 5G टेलीकॉम नेटवर्क से हुवावे को बाहर करने का फैसला ले लिया है। इस फैसले ने जनवरी में दिए हुवावे के बयान को उलट दिया गया है, जिसमें कहा गया था कि हुवावे को देश के सुपर-फास्ट वायरलेस इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर तैयार करने की सीमित भूमिका मिल सकती है।
ब्रिटेन सरकार ने मंगलवार को घोषणा की कि उनके 5G नेटवर्क से मौजूदा हुवावे इक्विपमेंट्स हटाने के लिए BT और वोडाफोन जैसे ऑपरेटरों को 2027 तक का समय दिया गया है। डिजिटल और संस्कृति मंत्री ओलिवर डाउडेन ने कहा कि मई में हुवावे पर लगाए गए नए अमेरिकी प्रतिबंधों ने पूरी तस्वीर को बदल दिया है। डॉउडेन ने कहा कि यूके को अब यह विश्वास नहीं है कि भविष्य के हुवावे 5G इक्विपमेंट्स की सुरक्षा की गारंटी देने में सक्षम होगा।

Upcoming Xiaomi Mi Smartphone with 120W Fast Charging Capabilities Gets 3C Certification

Fast charging is gradually becoming the norm in the smartphone industry and all the leading brands are trying their best to come up with ultra-fast charging technologies lately. Brands like OPPO, Realme, and iQOO have already announced that they will unveil their futuristic 100(+)W fast charging technologies pretty soon now. That said, we have been hearing about Xiaomi’s ultra-fast charging technology for quite a while now. We are not sure as to what the moniker of the device could be.
